About Me

In addition to holding qualified teacher status, I hold a Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties, a SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate and have AMBDA (FE/HE) status.

I teach and assess dyslexic students of all ages and adults in the workplace.

After completing training as a DSA Needs Assessor, I now work as an independent assessor for the Anglia Assessment Centre.

As a member of the Epilepsy Action's  Education Advisory Panel and a member of Epilepsy Action's Council of Management, I have been able to contribute to the work carried out in raising awareness of the impact of epilepsy on learning. I currently hold the posts of Vice-Chair of the Association and Chair of the Council of Management's Education Committee.

For a number of years, I have been devising and delivering training to a variety of audiences including schools, post 16 education providers, the voluntary sector and business. I am currently delivering continuing professional development and INSET training in Maths and Dyslexia for Lighthouse (www.lighthouse.tv)and  ACER and have delivered training on various topics for the Harlow Education Comsortium.

In October 2008, I gave a keynote address on the epilepsy and education at the inaugural conference for parents and young people with epilepsy organised by the National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy. I am delighted to have been invited back to this year's conference to present a workshop on the same topic.

I contribute articles to professional websites and journals, most recently 'Epilepsy Professional'.

My book , 'Meeting the Needs of Students with Epilepsy' was published by Network Continuum in May 2008.

I have developed information materials for educators, service providers and businesses.

Having experience of specific learning difficulties as a specialist teacher and parent means that my approach is both professional and empathetic. Assessment and training will incorporate sound practical advice to facilitate a greater understanding of  specific learning diffficulties and of ways to move forward.
